Skin Cancer

Skin Cancer Treatment in BaysideBrighton Dermatology is a general dermatology practice that has been serving the community for more than 30 years.

There are three main forms of skin cancer: basal cell skin cancer (BCC), squamous cell skin cancer (SCC) and melanoma, with melanoma being the most serious.

Melanoma is a common cause of death from cancer in young people but also occurs in older adults. About 50 per cent of melanomas occur in existing moles, with the remaining 50 per cent arising in otherwise normal skin.

Basal and squamous cell skin cancers, while they can occur in young people, are much more common in people who are aged 50 years and over.

While many skin cancers need to be excised, there are other options that can be considered for BCCs and SCCs including creams, liquid nitrogen freezing and photodynamic therapy.

Brighton Dermatology offers all options.
